In 1673, St. Margaret Alacoque, a French non, had visions of Jesus asking people to honor His Sacred Heart. Jesus promised that if a person receives Communion for 9 consecutive First Fridays of the Month, He will grant extra graces at the time of their death and receive the last Sacraments. Many churches offer a Holy Hour on the First Fridays to meditate on the Sacred Heart of Jesus and offer reparation.
